A high strength nickel aluminum bronze with good corrosion resistance in sea water.
ASTM B150: C63000 (AMS4640) is one of the most commonly used American grades of nickel aluminium bronze and contains around 10% aluminium, 5% nickel and 3% iron.
B150 C63000 offers an array of properties including high strength and hardness, excellent resistance to wear, shock and abrasion. Another major benefit of this alloy is its ability to offer a high retention of its mechanical properties at elevated temperatures. C63000 / AMS 4640 is readily hot worked and offers a good machinability.
The C63000 (AMS4640) can also offer additional properties including good erosion, corrosion and cavitation resistance in seawater, as well as resistance to dilute sulphuric, hydrochloric and non-oxidising acids.
